An amateur football team in Glasgow has condemned a group of youth ultras who allegedly caused damage to their stadium.

Police were called to Petershill Park in Springburn on September 13 followings reports of a disturbance on the pitch.

One person, described as a male youth, has since been charged in connection as enquiries continue.

Petershill FC released a statement, saying that a “crowd of youths” intentionally attended the West of Scotland First Division match to “cause trouble and damage”.

‘Abhorrent actions’

Describing the group’s actions as “abhorrent”, Petershill said that they are particularly concerned at “threats of violence” being made to Partick Thistle Charitable Trust staff, who were working at the match.

The club thanked local politicians and Police Scotland for their support and confirmed they are looking at ways to prevent the disturbance from happening again, claiming it was arranged via social media.

“The club utterly condemns the abhorrent actions of the crowd of youths who attended our match against Sauchie last Saturday, with the sole intention of causing trouble and subsequently caused damage to the stadium at Petershill Park”, the statement read.

“Since the match, we have been made aware that there were social media posts encouraging so called “ultras” to come to our game, posts which have since been deleted or made private. Although some of the youths may have been local, we know from the police that the one individual arrested was from Drumchapel and has no connection to Petershill.

“We have complete sympathy and understanding with Partick Thistle Charitable Trust that they have a duty of care to protect their staff and property while any match is taking place at Petershill Park.

“We are also very concerned at the threats of violence that were made towards PTCT staff, our committee members, and fans when they tried to intervene to stop trouble escalating, and that as incidents were happening outside the ground members of the general public were also put at risk.”

The club said it hopes to encourage the youths to see the damage they are doing to clubs who have been a part of their community for decades.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.20pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025, officers received a report of a disturbance at a pitch in the Southloch Street area of Glasgow.

“A male youth was charged in connection and a report was submitted to the relevant authority.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
