Glasgow family searching for answers after man missing for almost two years from Pollok Police Scotland

The family of a missing man, last seen almost two years ago, are appealing for answers over is disappearance.

Police have relaunched an appeal to trace missing Alexander Reid, who has not been seen since April 2021.

Mr Reid, 43, was last seen in the Pollok area of Glasgow and is known to live in Irvine and Stevenston in Ayrshire and in the south side of Glasgow.

He was reported missing by his family after no one heard from him over Christmas and birthdays.

He is described as white, 5ft 4, slim build with shaved red/auburn hair.

Chief inspector Derrick Johnston said “Alexander, known as Alec or Jimmy frequently travelled between North Ayrshire and Glasgow and it is not unusual for him to be out of contact with his family and friends for long periods of time.

“However, he normally makes contact with his family on occasions such as birthdays and Christmas.

“His family have become concerned following no contact over a longer than usual period of time.”

Police Scotland are urging anyone with information about Mr Reid’s whereabouts since April 2021 to get in touch.

Chief inspector Johnston continued: “Even if what you know seems trivial or insignificant, please get in touch as every piece of information could help us find out where Alexander may be and provide his family with some answers.

“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3011 of Tuesday, January 24.”
