iStockGlasgow City Chambers was evacuated after a suspicious package was reportedly found in the building.
Emergency services attended the scene at George Square on Monday afternoon and a cordon was put in place.
Part of the building was evacuated as a safety precaution.
Officers later determined the item was not “viable” and there was no threat to the wider public.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a suspicious package at the City Chambers, George Square, Glasgow around 3.20pm on Monday, 21 February, 2022.
“Officers attended and a cordon was put up while the package was analysed.
“It was established the item was not believed to be viable and there is no threat to the wider public.
“The item will be removed and enquiries are ongoing.”
