A major street in Glasgow city centre is to be closed for ten weeks to allow for emergency repairs to sewage works to be carried out.
Scottish Water confirmed Bath Street between Douglas Street and Pitt Street is to be closed from Monday, March 18 for approximately ten weeks for the “complicated” excavation.
The public owned utility company said a property on the street has been experiencing internal sewer flooding.
Scottish Water added that complications could arise due to the presence of other services during excavation.
Road diversions are to be put in place and drivers are being urged to follow signs.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “We have been given emergency permission by Glasgow City Council to close Bath Street to allow the work to be carried out as quickly and safely as possible.
“We appreciate it is going to be inconvenient for people living in and travelling through the city centre, but this really is the only way we can carry out the repair safely.
“We will work with affected businesses and residents to minimise the impact of the emergency works and we would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.”
