A carer has been removed from the register after he inappropriately messaged a 15-year-old girl and bought her a vape with company funds.
Ovidiu Moldovan was employed as a support worker by Search Consultancy Limited at the time of the incidents.
On March 26, 2023, it was alleged that he allowed the teenage girl to drive the service’s car in a public car park and used company funds to purchase a vape for her.
The support worker also reportedly communicated inappropriately with the service user on a number of occasions.
Following Moldovan’s termination of employment with Search Consultancy Limited, he continued to message the girl.
The man later failed to disclose to his new employers, Local Lanarkshire Care Ltd, that he was the subject of an Scottish Social Services Council investigation.
The report read: “You failed to maintain professional boundaries by sending [the girl] inappropriate messages and emojis.
“This caused [the girl] to question your motives and put [the girl] in the difficult position of having to report your
behaviour to the service.
“[The girl] was a vulnerable young person who required support from agencies to keep her safe. Your behaviour put [the girl]’s residential placement at risk and had the potential to negatively affect her future engagement with social service workers.”
Moldovan was struck from the register after his behaviour was deemed “serious” and displayed “dishonesty”.
