Glasgow flight forced into emergency landing due to medical incident

The Jet2 flight was diverted to Cork in the early hours of Wednesday morning due to a passenger needing medical care.

A plane bound for Glasgow was forced to make an emergency landing in Ireland over a “medical emergency”.

The Jet2 flight departed Tenerife shortly after 10pm on Tuesday and was due to land at Glasgow Airport at around 1.45am.

Flight LS176 was diverted to Cork in the early hours of Wednesday when a 7700 squawk code was issued, signalling an emergency onboard.

The incident was later confirmed to have been caused by a passenger requiring urgent medical assistance.

The aircraft subsequently departed for Glasgow Airport after the passenger was safely transferred to the care of a medical team.

A spokesperson for Jet2 said: “We can confirm that flight LS176 from Tenerife to Glasgow diverted to Cork in the early hours of Wednesday morning, due to a customer requiring medical assistance.

“The aircraft subsequently departed for Glasgow Airport.”
