It's the fourth year in a row the city has gone without its once-annual Guy Fawkes Night event.

Glasgow’s official fireworks display to celebrate Bonfire Night will be axed indefinitely, the organisers of the event have confirmed.

Glasgow Life said there would be no display at Glasgow Green for the fourth year in a row.

The charity confirmed it has “no current plans” to reintroduce the event for future years either.

The once-annual November 5 spectacle was a popular sight for Glasgwegians before its last showing in 2019.

A spokesperson for Glasgow Life said: “In recent years we have focussed on delivery of winter and Christmas entertainment aimed at attracting visitors who will also enjoy Glasgow’s shopping, entertainment and nightlife sectors across several weeks in the lead-up to and during the festive period.

“We haven’t staged a fireworks event in recent years and have no current plan to do so this year or in the future.

“We are very much looking forward to unveiling our plans for Christmas in due course.”
