High street chain Pret A Manger has announced it will move into Glasgow Airport later this month.

The coffee and sandwich shop will become the seventh outlet in the city and the second in an air transport hub following its sister store in Edinburgh’s departure lounge.

Around 30 jobs will be created in the new eatery, with space for 70 customers from early morning until late in the evening.

The coffee shop is set to open in Glasgow Airport’s departure lounge on Monday, October 16.

Craig Norton, retail account manager at Glasgow Airport, said: “We are really pleased to now be welcoming Pret A Manger as our latest food offering.

“With soup season started, Pret will definitely bring warmth and heartiness to our customers travelling through this winter and I am sure our frequent flyers will be excited by the Club Pret offer.”

Pret joins the likes of Marks & Spencer Simply Food, Burger King, Greggs and Stack and Still in the Airport’s catering line up.

Lorna O’Donnell, Pret A Manger’s Scottish operations manager, said: “We’re delighted to be opening a shop in Glasgow Airport next week.

“When I first joined Pret 25 years ago in London, it was always a personal ambition of mine to help grow Pret’s presence back home in Scotland, the airport being a key acquisition for us.”
