Glasgow Airport has been named as the cheapest place to enjoy a pre-flight pint, according to a new survey.
Travel firm Velloy collated the cost of beer at bars, restaurants and pubs at the airport – and found the average price to be £6.06.
This is the cheapest out of the UK’s busiest 15 airports.
Edinburgh came in fifth place on the list – with the average pint in the capital’s airport costing £6.61.
The study also found that Tennent’s Pier Bar at Glasgow International was the cheapest airport establishment to purchase a pint of beer – charging travellers £4.79.
The table below shows the cheapest and most expensive airports across the UK to enjoy a pre-take-off pint.
The data found that the overall average cost of an airport pint across the UK is £6.70.
By comparison, Heathrow Airport was found to host the most expensive bar for a pre-flight beverage, with the average pint at London Pride By Fullers costing £10.05.
However, Heathrow’s Star Light is home to the cheapest prosecco, at £6.20 – with the average cost of fizz at Glasgow and Edinburgh coming in at £9.33 and £8.88.
Velloy founder Hugo Cannon said: “For many, there’s no better way to start a holiday than a pint at the airport or a glass of prosecco to get that going away feeling started.
“If you’re trying to decide whether to start your holiday from either London’s Gatwick or Heathrow, or either Manchester or Liverpool, we hope our index proves helpful for any keen travellers looking to start their trip with a celebratory beverage.”
