A seven-year-old girl was taken to hospital after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run in Kilmarnock.
Emergency services were called to the collision on Sunnyside Road at the junction with Shortlees Road around 1.55pm on Sunday.
A seven-year-old girl was taken to Crosshouse Hospital as a precaution, police said.
The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace them
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.55pm on Sunday, May 17, 2026, officers were called to a report of a crash involving a car and a child pedestrian on Sunnyside Road at the junction with Shortlees Road, Kilmarnock.
“Emergency services attended and a seven-year-old girl was taken to Crosshouse Hospital as a precaution.
“The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”
