An eight-year-old girl has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a car and two pedestrians in Dumfries and Galloway.

Police say the A747 next to Monreith closed following a report of a crash involving a car and two pedestrians at around 10.50am on Tuesday.

An eight-year-old girl has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area as emergency services are on the scene.

A Police Scotland statement read: “The A747 next to Monreith is closed following a report of a crash involving a car and two pedestrians, around 10.50am on Tuesday, May 27.

“An eight-year-old girl has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

“Emergency services are in attendance and drivers are asked to avoid the area.”
