Girl, 12, fighting for life in hospital after being struck by car

A 12-year-old girl has been left fighting for her life after being struck by a car in North Ayrshire.

Emergency services closed down Ardrossan Road, in Seamill, following a crash between a pedestrian and a blue Nissan Note at around 3.50pm on Monday.

A 12-year-old girl was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

Medical staff have described her condition as critical.

The driver of the blue Nissan Note was left uninjured.

Ardrossan Road remains closed at this time and the public are being asked to find an alternative route at this time.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area, who may have witnessed the incident to contact us.

“If anyone has dash cam equipment, please check the footage as it could hold images which could assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2330 of Monday, 3 June, 2024.
