A garden centre and cafe in Ayrshire has burned down in a fire during the early hours of the morning.
Crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced to Hayes Garden Land in Bogend in Kilmarnock during the early hours of Monday morning.
The garden centre, a long-established family-run business, has roots going back more than 200 years.
Four appliances were sent by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to the scene on Tarbolton Road after 2am.
One appliance remains to extinguish the remaining hotspots, crews said. There are said to be no casualties.
The centre’s owners confirmed the site, including its 130-seat cafe, had burned down.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.16am on Monday, December 15 to reports of a fire within a garden centre building in Bogend, near Kilmarnock.
“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the town’s Tarbolton Road, where firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
“One appliance remains on scene with crews working to extinguish remaining hotspots.
“There are no casualties.”
A statement on social media read: “We regret to inform you that we will be closed for the foreseeable future – the Garden Centre & Cafe have burned down.”
