Gangland boss Steven Daniel has been charged following an early-morning organised crime raid in Glasgow.

Police conducted a 6am raid on Wednesday morning at a property in Garthamlock, in the north of Glasgow.

Officers from the Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit arrested Daniel, 46, and a 39-year-old man in connection with organised crime, firearms and drugs offences. The 39-year-old man was also arrested for conspiracy to murder.

Both men have now been charged, remanded in custody and are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Reports will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Assistant Chief Constable David Ferry said: “The Chief Constable has made it clear that those intent on being involved in serious and organised crime will be brought to justice. This enforcement action underlines that commitment.

“We will continue to take strong action and to use every tool and tactic available to relentlessly pursue those involved in serious criminality who seek to profit from the harm and misery they cause to communities in Scotland.

“We do need the support of our communities to do this. Anyone with information about serious and organised crime is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.”
