A schoolboy suffered facial injuries after a gang of men attacked him on a footpath in South Lanarkshire.

The 15-year-old was targeted in Ferniegair, next to the grass playing field off Carlisle Road, at around 7.30pm on Friday.

The teen was walking in the area at the time when a car stopped and four men got out. They approached the boy and assaulted him, causing facial injuries.

The men got back in the car and drove off in the direction of Larkhall after passing drivers stopped and intervened.

Police investigating the attack described the car as a grey or possibly light green estate car, possibly a Skoda.

Constable Scott Pender of Hamilton Police Station said: “Our inquiries into this incident are ongoing and we would urge anyone who may have been in the area to come forward.

“We would be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage of the incident.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 4123 of April 2, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
