Fans have expressed their fury after being left outside in “torrential rain and freezing conditions” before a gig at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.
Hundreds of fans were forced to queue for up to an hour to get into the venue before the Fontaines D.C show on December 4.
Fans took to social media to express their frustration at the situation, which left some missing the beginning of the performance.
One fan attending the Fontaines D.C concert said they were forced to wait outside in “torrential rain and freezing conditions” despite heading to the venue earlier than usual to avoid queues.
The fan added there had been no organisation, and crowds eventually started pushing to the door.
They said: “The door staff had run out of standing wristbands, so we were told to wait again. It was absolute chaos, and the staff were absolutely no help and had no idea what was going on. They just blamed the fans saying we’d all turned up at the same time.”
A spokesperson for the OVO Hydro said the venue had been faced with “challenges” with the queues ahead of the Fontaines D.C gig, which was said to be in part due to bad weather on the day.
A spokesperson for the OVO Hydro said: “We always do our best to ensure a quick entry process for guests. At the recent Fontaines D.C concert, we had some challenges with queues.
“This was in part due to a large portion of the crowd arriving later than anticipated, which we suspect was partly down to the bad weather,” they said.
“We redeployed staff to speed up entry, and the Fontaines delayed performance to ensure as many fans were in as possible.”
It comes as the venue said it will be unveiling new security screening machines at upcoming gigs in a bid to speed up the entry process.
The spokesperson continued: “The SEC is always developing its operations, particularly those relating to customer experience.
“We are excited to be using our new security screening machines at The Human League, Culture Club and Slipknot, which will ultimately speed up the entry process for guests.”
