A fundraiser has been launched to help restore a popular walking route on the Isle of Arran after it was destroyed by a storm.
The Fisherman’s boardwalk, which connects Brodick with a walkway along the beaches to Cladach, collapsed during strong winds.
The pathway was originally funded by an islander and is one of Arran’s most popular and accessible walking routes.
The Brodick Improvements Committee, which helps maintain and develop the village’s facilities, has said the repair will be “no small feat for the community” in an appeal for donations.
Committee member Isobel MacDonald said: “A local gentleman paid for this very popular walkway to be erected. It is a well-used path connecting Brodick with a walkway along the beaches to Cladach.
“It was suitable for all age groups, prams, bicycles and mobility impaired. Unfortunately, due to Easterly storms, part of it collapsed, and we require funds to replace and renew the walkway.
“Please give what you can to enable us to repair the walkway.”
A target of £5,000 has been set by the group, with nearly £300 donated within the first few hours.
