Fresh appeal for footage after Jack Trainner murdered in 'targeted' attack in Port Glasgow

Police have launched a fresh appeal for CCTV and dashcam footage after the murder of a man in Port Glasgow in a “targeted” attack.

Investigations into the murder of Jack Trainner are ongoing after the 27-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene on Brookfield Road after suffering serious injuries at around 9pm on Saturday, April 27.

Officers are studying a “large amount” of CCTV footage from the area and are pursuing a number of lines of investigation.

A fresh appeal was issued on Monday for any private CCTV or dashcam footage captured in the area between 6pm and 11pm on the night of the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie from the Major Investigation Teams said: “Our thoughts remain with Jack’s family.

“This is a very difficult time for them and I want to reassure them and the wider community that our murder inquiry is progressing and we are following a number of lines of investigation.

“Enquiries so far indicate that this was a targeted attack.

“Detectives are continuing to carry out house to house enquiries and view a large amount of CCTV footage from in and around the area.

“Police were called around 9.05pm and I am continuing to urge anyone who may have seen anything in area of Brookfield Road between 6pm and 11pm on Saturday, April 27 or who has any private CCTV or dashcam footage to please contact us.

“Even the slightest bit of information could help with our enquiries.

“The local community have been keen to assist and we would like to reassure them that officers remain in the area and anyone with concerns should speak to them.”
