A teenage girl has been sexually assaulted by a man in Ayr.
The 14-year-old was in Castlehill Woods on Saturday when the incident took place.
She left a group of friends to walk through the woods at around 5.45pm before she was attacked by a man in his late teens to early 20s.
He is described as being around 5ft9 with a slim build, prominent nose and short red hair.
At the time of the assault he was wearing a blue jacket, white trousers and black leather gloves.
Police are now looking to trace the suspect.
Detective Inspector Jennifer McCulloch said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to identify and trace the man responsible for this assault.
“We have been carrying out enquiries in the area and officers are gathering and checking CCTV footage to find out more information
“I would urge anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, or who was in the area and may have any detail that will assist our investigation.
“Additional patrols will be provided in the area as I understand the concerns that members of the public may have following an incident like this.
“Anyone with information should contact Ayr Police Office through 101.”
