A bus driver and passengers had to be rescued from the vehicle following a crash on Thursday afternoon.

Four people have been taken to hospital after a bus crashed in Ayrshire.

Emergency services were called to the incident involving a McGill’s bus on the A760 between Kilbirnie and Largs around 3.30pm.

Three women and one man were taken to hospital where their conditions are currently unknown.

Police closed the road for several hours while investigations were carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.30pm on Thursday, July 11, police were called to report of bus crash on the A760 between Kilbirnie and Largs.

“Three women and one man have been taken to hospital. The road between Swinlees and Haylie Brae was closed and has reopened. Enquiries are ongoing.”

A spokesperson for McGill’s Buses said: “We can confirm one of our vehicles was involved in a road traffic incident on the A760 between Kilbirnie and Largs this afternoon.

“Police and other emergency services attended the incident as well as a response team from McGill’s. All passengers and the driver are now safely off the vehicle.”
