Four Rangers fans given indefinite bans after woman attacked and drum stolen outside Hampden

Rangers have banned four fans indefinitely after a woman was assaulted and robbed prior to the club’s Premier Cup clash against St Johnstone.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged after a 51-year-old woman was attacked and had a drum belonging to St Johnstone supporters stolen from her outside Hampden Park at around 4.45pm on Saturday.

The man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, August 19, in connection with robbery.

Officers then arrested two further men, aged 16 and 21, in connection with breach of the peace offences.

Both men were charged and released and are due to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.

St Johnstone confirmed it was liaising with Rangers, Police Scotland, the SPFL and the SFA over an incident involving a member of its staff.

Rangers said that they have issued “indefinite bans” to four individuals in connection and confirmed they “condemn all incidents like this” as enquiries continue.

A Rangers spokesperson said: “Rangers can confirm it has issued indefinite bans to four individuals as enquiries continue following the incident outside Hampden Park on Saturday.

“Rangers has reached out to the St Johnstone employee to check on their wellbeing and to apologise on behalf of the club.

“We abhor and condemn all incidents like this in the strongest terms and continue to support Police Scotland with their ongoing investigation.”
