Four more arrests made amid Celtic title party disorder crackdown

Four more arrests have been made in connection with a crackdown on disorder in Glasgow following Celtic’s title win.

Two police officers were seriously injured, and three members of the public needed hospital treatment after thousands of supporters descended on the Trongate area of Glasgow to celebrate the team’s win over Hearts on May 16.

Police Scotland said the celebration descended into unrest after officers moved in to the crowd to assist a member of the public who was unconscious.

Bottles and pyrotechnics were thrown at officers during what has been described as “horrific scenes”.

Ten men, including a 17-year-old, were arrested after disorder broke out in the area following the match, while four were apprehended at the stadium in the city’s East End.

Operation Gristaline

Police Scotland launched Operation Gristlaine in response to the disorder.

On Wednesday, STV News joined both plain-clothed and uniformed officers in morning raids in Springburn and Govanhill, carried out at properties in connection with the large-scale enquiry.

Properties in Bothwell and Blantyre were also raided, with a total of five warrants executed across Glasgow and Lanarkshire.

Four men – aged 30, 30, 25 and 21 – have been arrested and charged in connection with various offences, including assault, culpable and reckless conduct, breach of the peace and fireworks offences.

The two 30-year-olds and the 21-year-old are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday. The 25-year-old is due to appear on Wednesday, August 26.

The force has since confirmed a further three men, aged 38, 33 and 19, and a 22-year-old woman has been charged with a variety of offences, including breach of the peace, assault and reckless conduct.

The 38-year-old man was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, while the 33-year-old man is due to appear on Friday.

Both the 19-year-old man and the 22-year-old woman are due to appear in court at a later date.

Officers have made a total of 28 arrests in connection with the disorder.

In late July, Police Scotland released the images of 83 people linked to disorder at the Trongate.

STV News understands that some have since come forward via their lawyers.
