Four men charged after police operation linked to series of incidents across west of Scotland

Four men have been arrested and charged as part of a pre-planned operation following a series of incidents in the west of Scotland.

Detective teams executed warrants at addresses in the Bellshill and Motherwell areas of Lanarkshire on Friday September 11.

Four stolen vehicles have also been recovered as part of the investigation and enquiries are ongoing.

A 21-year-old was arrested and charged in connection with a disturbance at a premises in Milton Road, Kirkintilloch on Tuesday, August 18 2026, and a wilful fire-raising in the same area on Saturday, August 22 2026.

He was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, September 11 2026.

Another 21-year-old man was also arrested and charged in connection with the wilful fire-raising on Saturday, August 2, 2026.

A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged after a vehicle struck a property in Low Borland Way, Eaglesham on Friday, 21 August, 2026. There were no reports of any injuries.

Both are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, September 14 2026.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a wilful fire-raising of a car in Crowhill Street, Glasgow around 4.30am on Monday, April 6 2026. No one was injured.

He was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Extensive enquiries remain ongoing into these incidents, with CCTV footage being examined and forensic analysis also carried out.

Detective Chief Inspector David Lamont, said: “Today’s operation is the result of extensive work by a dedicated team of detectives, following a series of incidents across Glasgow last month.

“This day of action should send a clear message to those involved in this type of criminality, that we will not give up and you will be brought to justice.

“These incidents had the potential to have much more serious consequences, and I want to be absolutely clear – this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.

“Significant enquiries remain ongoing in relation to all of these incidents and we will continue to draw on detectives and specialist resources to identify anyone else involved.”
