Former Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has donated £10,000 to charity after winning a celebrity golf tournament.
The 42-year-old claimed the Luxe Scot Celebrity Pro-Am title at Trump International Golf Links on Wednesday.
Former Scotland international McGregor won £10,000 for Kilbryde Hospice after his 37-point haul on the Aberdeenshire links.
Former Aberdeen striker John Hewitt finished second and donated £7,500 to his chosen charity Autism and Neuro Diversity North Scotland, while Ryan Wilson, who played rugby union for Glasgow Warriors, finished in third place and won £2,500 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital.
McGregor beat several stars from the world of sport and entertainment to take top spot, including ex-Formula One world champion Damon Hill, former Olympian Kris Akabusi and Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton du Beke.
Gianfranco Zola, Scott Quinnell, Jim Leighton, Keith Duffy, Brian McFadden, DJ Locksmith and Alan Stubbs were just some of the other celebrities who took part.
The victory comes after McGregor hung up his gloves at the end of the 2022/23 season, after making over 500 appearances for the light blues.
The former goalkeeper broke his silence on his post-football career plans last month, during an appearance on YouTube channel Golf Life.
He said: “If the question got asked, in terms of coaching, I feel that I want to want to do it, rather than people saying ‘you’ve got the experience, you should do it’.
“That time might come, you know, soon. But I’m just enjoying myself now.”
Kilbryde Hospice have been contacted for comment.
