A former footballer turned FIFA and Porsche artist is to host a “live art” event in order to raise funds for charity in Glasgow.
Craig Black, a former Greenock Morton player, joined an art course at Glasgow’s Cardonald College after turning his back on football.
Since graduating, he has landed commissions from England’s Premier League and football governing bodies UEFA and FIFA – designing footballs for every team in the Qatar World Cup back in 2022 – and has also worked for the NBA, the NFL, and Porsche.
The artist, best known for his work with acrylic, will appear at Glasgow’s Social Hub on Wednesday, October 2, where he will create a bespoke piece of art directly in front of a live audience – all in the name of charity.
Organised to raise funds for NABS, the UK’s leading well-being charity designed for people working in advertising, marketing and media, the event will be free to attend.
The final piece of artwork will go into the NABS online art auction on October 22, which will feature more than 300 pieces of art donated by some of the UK’s leading creative minds, with bids starting from as little as £10.
Craig, who is originally from Gourock, said, “Working in the world of advertising, marketing and media can often be stressful due to its fast pace, tight deadlines and high expectations, so it’s vitally important to have a charity dedicated to driving wellness in these industries.
“I’m really excited to create an art piece live in front of Scotland’s creative community. Art in all its forms can enhance your mental health because it can lower stress, boost happiness and aid in self-discovery; it really is a valuable tool in promoting mental well-being, so I’m looking forward to recognising that at this special NABS event.”
