A man has been accused of hurling racist abuse at players during an Old Firm game.

Alasdair Beaton, 66, allegedly conducted himself in a disorderly manner at Ibrox Stadium on January 2, 2023.

Rangers hosted Celtic that day in a match that would finish 2-2 due to a late equaliser from Kyogo Furuhashi.

Court papers state Beaton shouted, swore and repeatedly shouted racial comments towards football players.

He is also said to have committed breach of the peace.

The charge is said to have been racially aggravated while Beaton, of Falkirk, is subject to four bail occasions.

Beaton faces a separate charge of failing to provide his name and address without a reasonable excuse to constable Mark Watson.

This offence is also said to have been racially aggravated.

Beaton denies the two charges at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He will stand trial at the end of August with a hearing taking place earlier that month.
