A flat has been “extensively damaged” after being deliberately set on fire in Renfrewshire.
Emergency services rushed to the scene around 8pm on Friday evening following reports of a flat fire on Morven Avenue in Paisley.
Several nearby flats were evacuated, and while no one was hurt in the blaze, several people were checked over by ambulance crews.
Detectives are now appealing for information following the fire, and have urged residents with doorbell cameras to check their footage for anything suspicious.
Officers will also be checking for any relevant CCTV from in and around the area.
Detective Inspector Jan MacColl said: “The flat has been extensively damaged, and I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen something or someone which looked a little suspicious to get in touch with us.
“I’d also like to ask residents with doorbell recording equipment to check their footage. It’s possibly captured images which could assist in our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3518 of Friday, April 19 2024.
