A five-week-old baby boy has died after “taking unwell” at a flat in Glasgow.
Police confirmed the death is being treated as unexplained after receiving reports of an unwell baby in the St Mungo Place area around 8.45am on Monday.
The baby was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children where he was pronounced dead.
Officers said enquiries are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.45am on Monday, October 7, 2024, officers were made aware of a baby having taken unwell in the St Mungo Place area of Glasgow.
“The baby, a five-week-old boy, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 8.37am on October 7 to attend an incident in the area of St Mungo Place, Glasgow.
“An ambulance, a critical care paramedic and a paramedic response unit were dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.”
