Five people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the M8 involving multiple vehicles.

Emergency services were called to junction 19 on the westbound carriageway in Glasgow’s city centre at around 8.50pm on Tuesday following reports of a five-vehicle crash.

The Scottish Ambulance Service deployed three ambulances, three special operations response teams (SORT) and a critical care paramedic to the scene.

Four people were taken to Queen Elizabeth University hospital whilst another person was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed to allow for the recovery of the vehicles involved and later reopened at 10.55pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received reports of road crash involving five vehicles on M8 at J19 westbound, Glasgow around 8.50pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

“Officers attended and the road was closed while vehicles were recovered. It reopened around 10.55pm.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call on February 18 to attend a five-car road traffic collision on the M8 westbound at junction 19.

“Three ambulances, three special operations response teams (SORT) and a critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene. Five patients were transported to hospital; four to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and one to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”
