Five people have been taken to hospital after a crash involving 12 vehicles on a major motorway.
Emergency services were called to the collision on the M73 shortly around 10.50pm on Sunday, with the road closed northbound between junction 2 at Gartcosh and junction 3.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent three fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene, as ambulance crews also attended.
The Scottish Ambulance Service sent six ambulances and two special operations response teams (Sort) to the scene.
Medics took two patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, two patients to the city’s Royal Hospital for Children, and one patient to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Another three patients were treated and released at the scene.
The road reopened just before 4am on Monday, Traffic Scotland said.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.50pm on Sunday, March 15, 2026, we were called to a report of a crash involving 12 vehicles on the M73 at Gartcosh.
“Emergency services attended and the road was closed.
“Five people were taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
“Recovery was arranged and the road reopened around 3.30am.
“There is no further police action.”
