Firefighters are tackling a massive blaze within a gym in a business park in Kilmarnock.

Emergency services were called to the fire within a building at Rowallan Business Park on Southcraig Avenue after 6am on Thursday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent six appliances, two height appliances and specialist resources to the scene.

Due to high levels of smoke in the area, nearby residents in Craighall Bank, Craighall Crescent and Craighall Road are advised to keep windows and doors closed.

Members of the public not in the immediate area that can see or smell smoke are urged to follow the same advice.

Police have also closed Glasgow Road between Kilmaurs Road and the roundabout for Southcraigs Drive.

Fire crews say there are no reported casualties. and crews remain in attendance.

Revitalize Fitness & Spa, where it is understood the fire began, said staff are “absolutely devastated and heartbroken” by the fire.

A statement given to STV News said: “Revitalize Fitness & Spa is so much more than a building to us – it’s our livelihood, our team’s workplace and a community that thousands of local people are part of.

“We are a family-run business and we’ve always called our members our “Fitness Fam”. That isn’t just a name to us – it’s genuinely what Revitalize has become. Our members, team and local community have been at the heart of everything we’ve built.

“The impact of the fire on the gym is devastating and we’re still trying to process everything that’s happened. Most importantly, we’re incredibly grateful that everyone is safe and there have been no reported injuries.

“We’ve already been overwhelmed by the messages and offers of support from our members and the wider Kilmarnock community, which means more to us than we can put into words.

“Right now, we’re working with the relevant authorities and will share more information when we’re able to.

“Revitalize is more than four walls. We still have our team, our members and our Fitness Fam – and family is forever.

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone standing with us during such a heartbreaking time and appreciate any support going forward.”

A number of other businesses within the park took to social media following the fire.

EVT Scotland, a commercial vehicle and emergency service vehicle firm, said: “A fire took place in one of the buildings linked to our office space, which has caused significant damage. Emergency services are still in attendance and doing all they can.

“Our office is unusable. All management are currently dealing with the matters at present but no one has been injured as a result.”

Autoperfekt UK, a chemical company, added: “We are fully aware of the ongoing fire at Southcraig Avenue, where Autoperfekt HQ is located.

“The emergency services have been outstanding and have been at the scene since the early hours of this morning working to bring the situation under control.

“Our team are currently being inundated with calls and messages from people letting us know about the fire and offering their support. We genuinely appreciate everyone reaching out.

“For now, we ask that you bear with us while the emergency services continue their work. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information.”

A Police Scotland statement read: “Glasgow Road in Kilmarnock has been closed between Kilmaurs Road and the roundabout for Southcraigs Drive due to a fire.

“Emergency services were called to the fire at a premises within Rowallan Business Park around 7.15am on Thursday and remain in attendance.

“There are no reported injuries.

“Residents in Craighall Bank, Craighall Crescent and Craighall Road, are asked to keep their windows closed.

“Please avoid the area and use an alternative route.”

An SFRS spokesperson said: “We are currently in attendance at a building fire within Rowallan Business Park on Southcraig Avenue in Kilmarnock.

“Due to high levels of smoke in the area, nearby residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed.

“If you are not in the immediate area but can see or smell smoke, please follow the same advice. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area.

“We were alerted at 6.09am, and Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances, two height appliances and specialist resources to the scene.

“There are no reported casualties at this time, and crews remain in attendance.”
