Firefighters have been tackling an early morning blaze at high rise flats in Glasgow.

A man suffered from smoke inhalation as a result of the fire that broke out within a tower block on Milton’s Scaraway Drive.

The 51-year-old was treated by medical staff who were called to the scene at around 5am on Monday.

No other casualties have been reported.

Police were also in attendance and have launched an investigation into the blaze.

A spokeswoman for the force confirmed the incident.

She said: “At around 5am on Monday, we received a report of a fire in a tower block in Scaraway Drive. 

“Emergency services attended and a 51-year-old man was treated for smoke inhalation.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.”
