Firefighters tackle blaze at derelict building as roads sealed off

Emergency services remain in attendance in Glasgow's Royston Road after a blaze at a building.

A road has been closed off and buses have been affected after a building went up in flames in Glasgow.

Three SFRS appliances and a specialist high reach appliance were called to Royston Road, after a derelict building went up in flames at around 11.42am on Monday.

Police Scotland confirmed they were assisting with traffic management at the scene.

Due to the incident on Royston Road, the First 19 service is diverting to Easterhouse via Broomfield Road, Rye Road, Quarrywood Road and Old Robroyston Road.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 11.42am on Monday, February 5, to reports of a fire at a derelict building on Royston Road, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised three appliances and a specialist high reach appliance to the scene where firefighters are working to extinguish the fire.

“Crews remain on scene.”
