Firefighters remain at the scene of a blaze at a battery recycling plant near Glasgow two days after it erupted.
Emergency services were called to the “large-scale” fire at WEEE Solutions Ltd, a specialist waste electrical and battery recycling treatment facility at Burnbrae Road, shortly after 9pm on Sunday.
Local residents are asked where possible to avoid the vicinity, but no longer need to keep windows and doors closed and can now go outdoors, police said.
Three appliances Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland remain on the scene more than 38 hours later.
At its height, ten fire appliances were mobilised to the scene inside the Enva owned commerical building.
Images showed a huge plume of smoke stretching over Linwood that could be seen from across Glasgow and beyond.
Residents reported a chemical smell and hearing loud explosions.
