A fire ripped through a B-listed tenement in Glasgow with a “substantial” part of the roof lost.
The blaze broke out in the empty building on Carlton Place, on the River Clyde after 8pm on Monday with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sending nine appliances to the scene.
Fire crews were still battling the fire as of Tuesday morning.
This is the second time the building has gone on fire this year.
Five teenagers were rescued from inside on January 27 after a blaze the police said was started deliberately took hold.
The B-listed building has been vacant since 2018.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “One fire appliance and a high reach appliance remain at the scene.
“At its height, seven fire appliances and two high reach vehicles were mobilised to Carlton Place, Glasgow, after the alarm was raised at 8.04pm on Monday, August 5 to reports of a building fire.
“Firefighters worked overnight to tackle and contain a well-developed fire affecting the roof of a three-storey derelict building.
“There are no reported casualties.”
Labour MSP Paul Sweeney said on X: “Another fire at the historic Carlton Place terrace. This one is more severe and has taken hold in a section of the roof.
“Thankfully, the firefighters have contained the fire in the attic space and are bringing it under control.
“We need urgent Council intervention to save it now.”
He added: “The worst of the fire now seems to be out, and firefighters are dousing it down.
“A substantial section of the roof has been lost, but they have saved the building.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.20pm on Monday, August 5, 2024 we were called to a building fire on Carlton Place in Glasgow.
“Emergency services attended and there were no reports of injuries.
“Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.”
