Fire crews have extinguished a blaze at a derelict building in North Ayrshire.

At around 8.23pm, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) responded to reports of the blaze at a disused building in Kilwinning Road, Irvine.

The SFRs sent four appliances to the scene before putting out the fire.

Police Scotland also responded to the scene and there are no reported injuries.

The SFRS said firefighters put out the fire and left the scene at around 2.15am on Tuesday.

A Police Scotland statement read: “Kilwinning Road in Irvine has reopened following a fire at a disused building reported at 8.30pm on Monday, October 7.

“The fire has been extinguished and there are no injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”
