Fire crews called after old factory sheds burst into flames

Four fire appliances and a high reach appliance were mobilised to the scene shortly before 7.30pm on Thursday.

Fire crews were called to a huge blaze which ripped through old factory sheds in Ayrshire on Thursday evening.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called shortly before 7.30pm to the fire at the premises on Jamieson Road in Darvel.

Four fire appliances and a high reach appliance were mobilised to the scene.

The factory sheds backed onto residential properties but it is understood that residents have not been evacuated as a result.

Fire crews remain at the scene and are working to extinguish the fire.

A spokesperson for the SFRS said: “We were alerted at 7.26pm on Thursday, 20 April to reports of a fire at premises on Jamieson Road, Darvel.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and a high reach appliance to the scene where crews are working to extinguish the fire.”
