A number services across the CalMac network have been cancelled or delayed due to adverse weather conditions.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds for most of the Western Highlands and Outer Hebrides, from 10am until 7pm on Wednesday.

The weather service is forecasting winds with gusts of up to 70 mph, which are affecting ferry services.

In total, 13 routes have had sailings cancelled on Wednesday, October 14, including Troon to Brodick, Oban to Castlebay, Uig to Lochmaddy and Mallaig to Armadale.

Many routes on the website have an update stating: “Due to an adverse weather forecast for Wednesday, all services on this route are cancelled.”

Most of the other 17 routes face possible disruption, according to the ferry operator’s website, with some service up for review at 3pm.

Passengers are advised to check for updates on their journey on CalMac’s website before travelling.
