The family of a woman who was murdered by her boyfriend in South Lanarkshire have donated thousands to a Women’s Aid charity.

Phoenix Spencer-Horn’s body was found at a home she shared in Glen Lee, East Kilbride in November last year.

Prosecutors said Ewan Methven, 27, attacked Ms Spencer-Horn by repeatedly striking her on the head and body with a knife or knives.

Methven admitted murdering the 21-year-old and attempting to cover up her death at the High Court in Glasgow this week. He will be sentenced on Monday, July 14.

Following her death, a fundraiser was set up to help with funeral costs, with thousands also donated to Women’s Aid across Scotland.

The charity’s Glasgow branch thanked Ms Spencer-Horn’s family, saying the funds will be used to protect others and continue her legacy.

In a Facebook post, Women’s Aid Glasgow said: “Phoenix Spencer‑Horn was only 21 when her life was taken. Brutally murdered in the flat she shared in East Kilbride on November 18, 2024.

“Her partner, Ewan Methven, has admitted to the savage and brutal killing: stabbing her, strangling her, then dismembering her body, attempting to conceal his crime.

“Now her family and friends are left grieving and living with something unimaginably evil.

“In the middle of heartbreak, they’ve raised thousands of pounds for Women’s Aid services, not just here in Glasgow, but across Scotland.

“Her name, Phoenix, now stands for more than loss. It stands for action. For change. For refusing to let her story end in silence.

“This is what it means to rise from the ashes. To take this devastating crime and use it to protect others.

“Phoenix should still be here. But her legacy is one that’s lifting others up, and that matters. Turning pain into action. Refusing to let her name be forgotten.

“Glasgow Women’s Aid sends our love, support and thanks to Phoenix’s family and friends.”
