Residents evacuated from an unsafe building in Hamilton are unable to return home until an inspection is carried out.
Eight properties on Quarry Street were evacuated at 12.40am on Tuesday due to concerns about the building’s structural integrity.
The street was closed between Low Waters Road and Graham Street, with locals urged to avoid the area.
South Lanarkshire Council has confirmed that fences have been erected around the building ahead of an external inspection.
A spokesperson said: “The area surrounding the properties has been made secure with the erection of heras fencing.
“Meanwhile, the Building Standards Service has instructed an external inspection of the building as no access can be gained to any of the flats or commercial units.”
