Water has been restored to 6,500 customers in Glasgow after a burst water main caused a major flood.
Scottish Water confirmed those in the G41, G42, G43 and G44 postcodes faced an interruption to their water supply on Saturday afternoon.
Photos and videos on social media showed flooding on some streets in the area after a 27 inch pipe ruptured.
Road closures had been put in place as engineers worked to carry out “complex valve operations”, which Scottish Water confirmed they completed on Sunday morning, restoring supply to around 6,500 customers.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “This is a key asset supplying many thousands of homes in the city and our teams have worked as quickly as possible to restore supply.
“By making complex adjustments to our network we were quickly able to isolate and bypass the damaged section to allow the repair to be carried out.
“The vast majority of customers have now had their supply restored and we are making every effort to do the same for a small number of customers who are still experiencing issues.
“We are acutely aware of how many customers have been inconvenienced and how important it was to restore their supply as quickly as possible.
“We would like to thank everyone who has been affected for their patience and understanding.”
The company advised people experiencing discoloured water to run their cold kitchen tap at half pressure until it runs clear and customers who requested bottled water will be contacted to ensure they are back in supply.
