Emergency crews search for missing girl in river

Police were called at 6.45pm to reports of a missing child in the River Leven.

Rescue crews are searching for a girl in a river in West Dunbartonshire.

Police were called at around 6.45pm on Sunday to reports of a missing child in the River Leven in Balloch.

Officers are joined by firefighters and members of the Coastguard as part of the ongoing rescue mission.

Balloch Road and Balloch Bridge have been sealed off by police.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.46pm on Sunday, August 9 to reports of a person in the water in Balloch.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and two water rescue units to the scene at Balloch Bridge.

“Firefighters currently remain on the scene working to assist their emergency service partners.”
