An elderly man has been left in a critical condition after he was knocked down by a van in Lanarkshire.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident in the Muir Street area of Larkhall at around 7.45am on Wednesday. The collision involved a black Maxus van and an 81-year-old pedestrian.
The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Constable Graeme McNiven said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time and may have witnessed what happened to please contact us with any information that may assist.
“In addition, anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage is asked to get in touch.”
