Edinburgh City Council has launched an investigation after claims a member of staff was caught secretly taking pictures of girls on board a train.

The alleged incident occurred on a train between Glasgow Central and Lanark on Saturday.

In a video seen by STV News a man is confronted and admits to taking photos of teenage girls that he does not know.

Passengers then order him to delete the images from the phone and stop him from leaving the train.

The British Transport Police has confirmed that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson said: “Officers are investigating following reports of a man taking photos of teenage girls on board a train from Glasgow Central to Lanark railway station on Saturday (July 4).

“Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016, quoting reference 872 of July 4.”

Edinburgh City Council said it was aware of the incident and an investigation is ongoing.

A spokesperson told STV News: “Whilst we do not comment on individual colleagues, we’re aware of this incident and will investigate.”
