A former council leader has been charged in connection with alleged romance fraud.
East Dunbartonshire Conservative councillor Andrew Polson was suspended by the party in June.
The 50-year-old had been co-leader of East Dunbartonshire council until local elections in May.
He had been arrested in June but was released pending further inquiries, police said.
He was arrested again on Tuesday and charged.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 50-year-old man has been arrested and charged on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, in connection with a series of financial crimes.
“A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A Scottish Conservative spokesperson said: “Councillor Polson was suspended from the party a few months ago.
“It would be inappropriate for us to comment further until criminal proceedings are concluded.”
