An e-bike rider caught entering a motorway has been reported after being stopped by traffic police.
Road policing officers spotted the courier travelling on toward the M8 in Glasgow on a bike that didn’t comply with the electrically assisted pedal cycles (EAPC) regulations.
After stopping the cyclist, he was reportedly found to have no licence or insurance.
Officers then seized the bike to “prevent further offences”.
Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, Road Policing Scotland said: “This e-bike rider didn’t bank on us spotting them entering the motorway today on the #M8, #Glasgow.
“After ascertaining the bike did not comply with EPAC Regs the rider was reported for no licence, no insurance and others and the bike seized to prevent further offences.”
Under government guidelines, any electric bike that does not meet the EAPC rules is classed as a motorcycle or moped and needs to be registered and taxed.
Riders need to have driving licence to ride one and must wear a crash helmet.
