An e-bike rider is in hospital and has been charged with traffic offences after a crash in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to Bellshill, Hamilton Road, at the junction of Main Street, at around 2pm on Thursday.

The rider of the e-bike, a male, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

He was subsequently charged in connection with road traffic offences and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Constable Calum Brown said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash cam or private CCTV which could assist to contact us.”
