Dundee City Council is set to spend close to £5.2m on mould and rot repairs over the next two years.
A notice has been listed on the Public Contracts Scotland website offering a 24-month tender to undertake the survey, investigation and treatment of rot, damp, mould and associated timber defects within domestic housing properties.
The council is seeking to appoint a minimum of three and a maximum of five contractors for each lot within the framework.
The total estimated value of the contracts is £5.2m, with an option to renew for a further two years. The closing date for applications was the start of this month.
In the notice, it states that tenderers “must be able to demonstrate specialist expertise in damp proofing, timber preservation, fungal decay treatment, wood-boring insect eradication, basement waterproofing and associated remedial works.”
A Dundee City Council spokesperson said: “This procurement relates to the establishment of a multi-supplier framework agreement for timber preservation services.
“The framework will provide access to specialist contractors to undertake the survey, investigation and treatment of dry rot, wet rot, damp, mould and associated timber defects within domestic housing properties.
“The framework will support the council’s Housing Service in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities by providing access to specialist expertise for property inspections, invasive investigations, remedial treatments and associated works where required.
“The services will help ensure that housing stock is maintained to an appropriate standard and that issues affecting the condition of properties can be identified and addressed in a timely manner.”
They added: “The contract opportunity was advertised through Public Contracts Scotland and the procurement process is currently in the tender evaluation stage. Consequently, no contract awards have yet been made.
“Following completion of the evaluation process, a recommendation for award of the Framework Agreement will be submitted for approval through the council’s governance arrangements.
“As the framework has not yet been awarded and the requirement for these services is demand-led, it is not possible to provide an estimate of the number of properties that may require works over the term of the agreement.
“The framework agreement has an estimated maximum value of £5.2 million over a potential four-year term, comprising an initial two-year period with options to extend for up to two further periods of one year.
“Committee approval to undertake the procurement exercise was granted in June 2026.
“Following completion of the tender evaluation process, a recommendation for award of the framework agreement will be presented for approval in accordance with the council’s governance arrangements.
“The advertised framework value represents an estimate of potential expenditure over the lifetime of the framework and does not constitute a guarantee of spend or commitment to award work to that value.”
