A drunk man repeatedly punched a woman in the face while she held a baby in her arms.

Gary Rose, 27, attacked the victim at a property in Glasgow’s Broomhill on January 15, 2025.

Rose was enraged after she confronted him about his drinking.

He repeatedly punched the woman who clung onto the two-month-old during the attack.

Rose then took the boy from the victim, who fled the property to safety.

Rose pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the woman to her injury.

Prosecutor Jenny Reid said: “[The victim] told him to get to his bed as he was drinking and trying to start an argument.”

Rose initially left the property and returned three hours later when he continued to be “boisterous.”

Ms Reid added: “[The victim] went to the bedroom with the young child.

“She had the baby in her arms when Rose started punching her in the face three or four times, causing her nose to bleed.

“She still had the child in her arms, making sure that he was okay.

“Rose then took the baby from her arms and tried to put [the victim] out.”

The woman went to the concierge for help and the police were contacted.

Officers found Rose with the baby in his arms at the property, and he was arrested.

The woman was stated to have bruises to her head and a bloody nose.

It was revealed that Rose has a previous conviction for an assault to severe injury and danger of life.

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Andrew McIntyre who continued Rose’s remand in custody.

The sheriff said: “This is obviously very concerning, and you have a concerning record of previous conviction.

“I need to consider all the options to make sure the public are safe when you are released.”
