A woman has been charged after crashing into parked cars and hitting a lamp post while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Road policing officers responded to a collision on Duke Street in Haghill around 6pm on Sunday.

Upon arrival, they found a BMW being driven by an alleged drunk driver who had collided with three parked cars before coming to rest against a lamp post.

Two people were taken to hospital, one with a broken ankle and one with a broken arm.

The 41-year-old female driver of the BMW was arrested and charged with several offences, including driving over the prescribed limit.

She is due to appear in court on Monday, March 17.
